The Life and Times of Governor William Goebel

The Scott County Arts Consortium presents a film festival on Governor William Goebel. For those interested in Kentucky history and politics this should be a great day! The festival features two films: “damn bad oyster….The Life and Times of William Goebel, Governor” by filmmaker Sean Anderson, which is on the Al Smith Fellowship Filmmaker Tour and has been seen on KET; and “Price and Power, William Goebel, the Man and the Myth by Georgetown’s own Dr. Ron Bryant and Tamara Gregory!

The festival is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Asher Science Center, Room 112, Georgetown College, at 320 E. College St. All are welcome to attend. Admission is free; donations are encouraged. The festival is made possible by an Al Smith Fellowship grant from the Kentucky Arts Council. Partnering in the event are Georgetown College, Scott County Council of the Arts, and Georgetown & Scott County Museum.

Regististration is from 9:00 to 9:30 am. Dr. James Klotter will open the program with a brief talk. Sean Anderson’s film will be screened at 10:00, with the second film scheduled for 12:30 following a lunch break. At 2:15 Dr. Klotter will moderate a panel discussion with Sean Anderson, Ron Bryant and Tamara Gregory. Then we’ll walk to the Museum to view an exhibit of Goebel artifacts. Third Annual Gallery & Gifts Holiday Market

The Third Annual Gallery & Gifts Holiday Market opens on November 1st at the Arts & Cultural Center, 117 North Water St., Georgetown. A wine & cheese opening reception will be held on Friday, November 6, 6 to 8 pm. Market hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 12:00 to 4:00 pm, and Sundays 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Original art and fine gift items are available by local and regional artists, and some new artists from out of state. 3rd Annual Gallery & Gifts Holiday Market

The Scott County Arts Consortium has scheduled its 3rd annual Gallery & Gifts Holiday Market. Opening November 1, it will run through December 19 at the Arts & Cultural Center, 117 North Water Street, Georgetown. The market will feature a blend of original art, including oils, watercolors, acrylics, drawing, and photography, as well as a wonderful selection of ceramics, textiles, jewelry, prints, notecards, pottery, paper arts, calligraphy and more. Annual Tour of Historic Homes

Scott County Arts Consortium announces the Annual Tour of Historic Homes in Georgetown and Scott County. A part of the annual Arts Weekend, the tour is Sunday, October 11, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Featured homes include 441 E. Main, the home of Dr. Rosemary Allen and Dr. Todd Coke; 451 E. Main, the home of Robert and Donna Johnson; 405 W. Main, the home of Nora Koffman and John Erdtmann; and the historic Johnson Tavern, now the home of Scott and Jennifer Mitchell, located at 104 Lloyd Road at Great Crossings (corner of US 227, Stamping Ground Road). The Arts & Cultural Center, 117 North Water Street, will be open to serve refreshments, and you can view the exhibit “Unequivocally Kentucky” by Jan Albers and Joseph Kinsey, as well as the art of Yolanda Poston.

Tickets are $10.00 and will be available at each location on the day of the tour, and are available now at the Arts & Cultural Center, the Country Peddler Shoppe at 218 E. Main, and at the Georgetown Antique Mall, 124 W. Main. For information call 502-863-0909.

“Unequivocally Kentucky”

“Unequivocally Kentucky” opens on Sunday, September 13, at the Arts & Cultural Center, 117 North Water St., Georgetown, featuring Jan Albers with infrared photography and Joseph Kinsey with graphite drawings. Reception Sunday, September 13 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturdays from 12:00 to 4:00 pm and by appointment. The show runs through October 24.
