Black History Month at the Arts & Cultural Center

The Scott County Arts Consortium would like to announce the opening reception of its Black History Month Exhibit: “Faces of Color: From Realism to Photography”. “Faces of Color” will run from February 12 – March 19. The opening reception will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Scott County Arts & Cultural /Welcome Center located in downtown Georgetown at 117 North Water Street, Georgetown, KY 40324. The show includes collage, wood carvings, photography as well as traditional genres of drawing and painting. The night will also include a performance by jazz musicians and light refreshment. Bring a friend and check out our new finds in the gift gallery or bring a Valentine’s Date and enjoy a free night of entertainment! Come help us celebrate Black History Month. The show will be featuring local Georgetown photographer William McIntyre’s work as well as Lexington artists Sonja Brooks and LaVon Williams. We will also be showcasing emerging New York Artist, Jerome Neal, Sr. You don’t want to miss out! Keep an eye out for our TBA closing reception date in March! See you there! “Shooting Gallery” by the Scott County Shooters

The Scott County Arts & Cultural Center opens a new season with a great show by the Scott County Shooters! “Shooting Gallery” opens on January 8 with a reception from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Featuring a variety of work from the photography club members, it promises to be an exciting and interesting exhibit. Please come and bring friends and family, enjoy the art, good food, and great people! Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm and by appointment. Original Art and Fine Crafts, All Year!

The Scott County Arts Consortium wishes to thank all those who came to support the Third Annual Gallery & Gifts Holiday Market which closed on December 19. Thanks to all who came to browse the beautiful selection of original art and gifts, and a special thanks to all who made purchases. The market was a great success for the Arts & Cultural Center, and for the artists and craftsmen who worked many months to be able to present such a variety of wonderful items for sale.

The Arts & Cultural Center and Welcome Center at 117 North Water Street (the old jailer’s house) is open year round with an everchanging array of original art and fine crafted gift items by local and regional artists. Teddy Bear Tea

Calling all children, ages 3 to 10! Bring your teddy bear (or favorite stuffed animal or doll) to tea at the Arts & Cultural Center on Sunday, December 6. Of course, you must bring mother or grandmother or auntie along to have tea with you. Tea (and hot chocolate) and lots of goodies will be served. Each child will take home a keepsake tea cup and saucer. Miss Cathy will give a short etiquette and manners lesson, and storytellers will entertain. We hope you can come to tea. We’ll be so happy to see you!
