Fall Tour of Historic Homes

Home Tour , Celebrate the WEG & AAEA show

The AAEA show continues as The World Equestrian Games come to a close.  Please check “News” to find out more about our Tour of Historic Homes Oct. 10 1- 5 pm the last day of the games. Purchase tickets ($10) ahead of time at The Arts & Cultural Center, The Lock and Key Coffee House, The Country Peddler Shoppe and Georgetown Antique Mall – or at the door.  Don’t forget our remaining Celebrate the WEG Arts & Cultural Series :  Bluegrass Poets 7-9 pm, this Wednesday, Clothesline Art Sale 12 noon-6 this Friday Oct 8 and Eat Your Art Out in honor of SCAC’s birthday.

American Academy of Equine Art Fall Art Show and Sale

A truly fabulous exhibition and sale by the American Academy of Equine Art, hosted by the Scott County Arts Consortium (SCAC), will be held at the Arts & Cultural Center/Welcome Center, the renovated historic jailer’s house at 117 North Water Street in Georgetown KY.  The exhibit will open to the public on September 16 as part of the Art & Antique Walk,  5-8 PM. An invitational gala to meet the artists will be held on September 17, 6-9 PM, a $20 donation is suggested. A special reception for collectors will be held on September 18, 4-6 PM.

This gorgeous collection by some wonderful artists from across this nation, and even as far away as New Zealand is not be missed.  The exhibit will run through October 22. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon until 7 PM, Sundays from 1-5 PM through October 10th, thereafter Tuesday – Saturday noon – 4 pm and by appointment. Just call (502) 863-0026. Both the AAEA and SCAC are non-profit community and education-minded organizations, and are privileged to collaborate on this fine show.

Other  exciting activities celebrating the World Equestrian Games will be held at the Arts & Cultural Center and next door at The ArtZone, SCAC’s educational branch. Continue to enjoy the AAEA show while attending: Simply Jazz & Appetizers, September 29, 7-9 PM with popular local jazz musicians John Richardson and Tom Sneff and  Poetry from the Bluegrass, October 6, 7-9 PM with outstanding poets Dr. Richard Taylor (poet laureate), Susan Richards, and  Katerina Stoykova-Klemer.   Attend our First Annual Clothes Line Art Sale, October 8, 12-6 PM , which offers art priced from $5-$60, (perfect for momentos of a visit to Georgetown or to get ahead on Christmas shopping).  Enjoy a change of pace with demonstrations and hands-on activities at The ArtZone where we will: Celebrate Paper Arts, September 26, 1-4 PM. Celebrate Clay Works, October 3, 1-4 PM. Celebrate Painting & Drawing, October 9, 1-4 PM. Eat Your Art Out, October 10, 1-4 PM.

Kentucky Guild Artists Demo at The Art and Antique Walk This Thursday!

Kentucky Guild Artists Jamie Donaldson and Nita Keeler will be on hand to demonstrate their craft at the Third Thursday Art and Antique Walk 5-8 pm this coming Thursday August 19th. Jamie is a wonderful woodworker (check out his comments with links to his website – to see some inspirational wood pieces). Nita Keeler will show her whimsical soft sculpture of people engaged in a variety of occupations – delightful and umorous. The exhibition itself includes other Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen members and continues until September 10th.

Don’t forget to go next door to The ArtZone at Artworks, where the Scott County Arts Consortium programming happens!  There are art activities for all ages and a clay throwing demonstration.

Upcoming exhibits!

The current show “Faces of Color” is due to close on March 19, with a reception to meet the artists on Sunday, March 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

A new show is scheduled to open on April 1st. Collected by SCAC/ArtWorks director, Charlie Campbell, it promises to be interesting and exciting! A show by outstanding artists Anne Leader and Carolann Fried, “36 Strategems, a Series of Installations and Works in Clay” will follow in May. The annual “Floral Fusion – Art & Nature” exhibition, one of our most popular events, runs June 18 -July 30. Artists from the Kentucky Guild of Artists & Craftsmen will exhibit from August 6 – September 10. The American Academy of Equine Artists are scheduled from September 17 – October 22, as part of Georgetown’s participation in the World Equestrian Games. The annual Gallery & Gifts Holiday Market runs November 1 – December 19. For information call 570-8366 or 867-7564.

Black History Month at the Arts & Cultural Center

Not to be missed! Please plan to attend “Faces of Color: From Realism to Photography”, the Scott County Arts Consortium’s Celebration of Black History Month. Opening reception February 12, 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Arts & Cultural Center, 117 North Water Street, Georgetown. The show runs through March 19.
